This is a series of work that I created during a recent residency in Berlin. While there I created images based on women who worked as prison guards in Nazi concentration camp during WWII. I was interested in these women as they were responsible for horrific crimes against prisoners while they were in a position of authority. They are some of the few women that were called to account for their actions after WWII and in turn they became prisoners themselves. Through this work I aim to present women as perpetrators responsible for their own actions, thus, counteracting the myth which seeks to generate an identity for the good woman who was a victim of her social and political circumstances.
