Rebeccah Power

“I am interested in capturing the moment of transition between formlessness and form. This interest stems from theories in Quantum mechanics which concludes that our observations might actually contribute to the creation of physical reality. I find it amazing that before a scene is observed and becomes “something” it could be “anything”. There are infinite possibilities in that moment”.
Using the immense winter sky, rainbows and surrounding rugged landscape of her home on the Bass Coast as subject matter to explore this notion, Power creates paintings, drawings and public artworks that can be described as atmospheric, ethereal and hazy. After graduating from the Victorian College of Arts in 2000, she has developed an extensive exhibition history that includes shows locally, nationally and internationally and she has received several accolades. Recent highlights to her career include receiving the ‘MCollection Award People’s Choice Award’ and ‘The Copyright Agencies Creative Career fund’. Her work can be found in government, corporate and private collections nationally and internationally.
